Are you in desperate need to update your wardrobe, but the state of the economy doesn’t permit you to splurge on anything beyond a new pair of chancletas? Don’t despair, chica, you can revamp your entire closet without spending a single dime. How? Look no further than your circle of amigas and throw a swap party! That’s when everyone brings a selection of items they no longer wear, or fit in, or whatever and trades with everyone else’s stuff. Carmen Ordoñez from Viva Fashion Blog gives us a few tips on how to make sure your swap party is a hit:

• Encourage your friends to bring a variety of articles. Everything from dresses, shoes, purses, pants, tops and accessories are welcome. Especially if they are in a wide range of sizes; there needs to be something for everyone!
• It may be implicit, but it never hurts to remind your guests that all items must be clean and in wearable condition. No holes or stank of mothballs, por favor.
• It is a good idea to request that everyone bring a minimum number of items to give the swapping some sort of balance.
• Arrange everything by categories, making it easier for everyone to browse through the loot.

Don’t forget the cocktails and the music. It is still a fiesta!
