Occupation and why?
I’m an educator because I love helping my students discover what life has to offer them.

A regular day consists of?
In the classroom with my students and having the rest of the day to do whatever I want.

How do you define success?
Being able to balance your true self with the demands of the real world.

What has been your biggest challenge?
Every time a big challenge comes along, it diminishes in size wants it has been overcome. For now, I only have small obstacles. But my most memorable challenge were my two lawsuits against the University of Miami which later became my two accomplishments.

What advice would you give a Latina who wants to follow in your footsteps?
My footsteps leave tread marks so you have to strong enough to deal with road blocks and passionate enough to continue when all others have quit. It’s not easy but it feels so good.

What’s on your bucket list?
Travel to all 50 states, write a best selling novel, have my own talk show and go camping!

How do you get your Latin fix?
I pray my mom has cooked one of her dishes!

Spanglish, English, Spanish?
Depends where I am. Most of the time, it’s English.

My favorite Latina stereotype is:
That we are passionate.

Best advice from mami and/or abuelita:
El tiempo es mi mejor amigo

Favorite home remedy:
Ajiaco helps everything…sick or sad or mad or happy!
