City you live in:
I currently reside in Orlando, FL. I originally was born in Brooklyn, New York but raised in Queens. I moved to Florida in 2001 because I wanted to experience living in Miami, FL.

I am one of the rare few that grew up speaking half English and half Spanish from birth. My parents spoke Spanish and my older siblings were bilingual. I am thankful because I am bilingual.

Favorite Latin food you can’t live without
I love rice and beans! Especially the way my mother cooks it.

What is your Latina contradiction?
My latina contradiction is that I never really learned to cook from my parents or my sisters. Instead, most of my time was consumed with babysitting my nieces and nephews, doing house chores, and busy with school work. My mother loved to cook for all of us because that is one of the ways she shows her love for us.

When you think of Latin culture what are the first words you think of?
Dancing is the first word that comes to mind when I think of latin culture. Growing up in such a big family (I am one of nine children and I am a twin) there was always a party. Since my background is Dominican I obviously love to dance merengue, bachata and salsa. My siblings and I all love to dance. My twin sister and I have even been in talent shows in our schools and else where. she and I have danced in small community talent shows and have won trophies which we came in first, second and third place. The ironic thing is that we were both pretty shy growing up but when it came to dance in front of a crowd we really enjoyed it.

What is your ethnicity? Or where is your family from?
My parents are from Dominican Republic. They are from a section in Santiago named San Jose de Las Matas. The town where my parents are from the dirt on the ground is red and this is why it’s called “Tierra Colora”. In Tierra Colora if you walk bare footed your feet will turn red. At the age of 14 I was fortunate to visit the country for the first time with my mom and three other siblings. That was my best vacation ever.

Latina? American? Both?
I am American born but I will always have the latina blood in me. I consider myself both.

Favorite Latin artist or music?
Wow I have so many. Here are just a few: Aventura, El Torito, Marc Anthony and the list goes on…

iPhone or BlackBerry?
I have an HTCEvo shift. I got this phone one month ago and love it.

How do you describe your style?
If I am at a social event or night club my style is sexy elegant.

What media in English and/or Spanish do you prefer/consume, as in what magazines, newspapers, TV shows
When I was growing up my dad would take over the living room and control the TV. So I would mostly watch Univision, news and SabadoGigante. Now that I can choose for myself, I love to watch Modern Family, The Middle, Extreme Home make over, and Desperate Housewives. My husband got me hooked on these shows, funny how it should of been the other way around.
