City you live in:
Let’s just say I live in Los Angeles County.
Both-I’m not as fluent in Spanish as I’d like to be, but I try. I speak mainly English, but practice my Spanish when I can. However, it usually comes out as Spanglish!
Favorite Latin food you can’t live without:
Chili rellenos, carnitas, and pretty much anything Mexican.
What is your Latina contradiction?
Oh where do I begin? LOL. Well, people see me and automatically think “white girl”. And although I am part Caucasian, I’m also half Hispanic. I love both sides of my family. But the difficulty growing up, was that I was never “Mexican enough” or “White enough”. I never really seemed to fit in with either side. Now that I am older, I’m much more comfortable with whom I am, and I’m proud to be both.
When you think of Latin culture what are the first words you think of?
Family, friends and good times. I love my latin culture. My mom’s side of the family was always there for us growing up. We always had food and each other. That is what I remember the most. I remember the laughing and the good times.
What is your ethnicity? Or where is your family from?
I’m half Caucasian, half Hispanic. My father is from Minnesota, my mom is from Mexico.
I was born in the U.S., so I consider myself both. It was always hard filling out those darn question and answer sheets when I was applying for school. Was I Caucasian? Mexican? If there isn’t an option for both, I always put “other”. Because I can’t deny who I am.
Favorite Latin artist or music?
Enrique Iglesias and Jennifer Lopez are the first two that come to mind. Of course, I like more than that, but I don’t want to make my list too long.
iPhone or BlackBerry?
iPhone all the way. I had a Blackberry years ago. I liked it. But once I got the iPhone, I was like, “Where have you been all of my life?”.
How do you describe your style?
It depends on where I’m headed. I love fashion! However, when I’m working, business casual/trendy. When I was younger I used to spend a lot of money on clothes. Now that I’m older, and married with 3 kids, I’m much more careful with my money.
What’s your favorite Latin restaurant?
My mother’s kitchen. Nobody makes Mexican food like mom right?
[ethnicity]half Caucasian, half Hispanic.[/ethnicity]
