City I live in:
Jersey City…overlooking the Manhattan skyline

Occupation and why?
Marketing geek, communicator and entrepreneur. Why? Because I finally had the guts to step out of my comfort zone, leave my executive’s corner office, and dared to connect the dots…the credibility of a former corporate life + passion and commitment to the Latino market + media impact = fun!

A regular day consists of?
Wake up early, pray, workout (a run if it’s warm or the elliptical during the winter), read my devotional with my husband Chris, check my calendar to make SURE I know where I’m going! Listen to my downloaded business and spiritual podcast in the train. And… focus. There are so many moving parts as an entrepreneur, I’ve had to learn the hard lesson of saying NO and prioritizing… then at night I look forward to coming back home to my lovely husband, cook (yes, I do cook and it is a stress reliever for me!) and watch my favorite reality TV series on my DVR!

How do you define success?
Keeping your priorities straight! GOD, FAMILY, FRIENDS, WORK.

What has been your biggest challenge?
Thinking I was invincible at some point, resulting in a lot of stress and even depression! But, I quickly realized there is beauty in being vulnerable, which actually molds you to become stronger… that’s why gold needs to be put to fire to be made into a beautiful piece of jewelry!

What advice would you give a Latina who wants to follow in your footsteps?
Don’t lose your identity and never lose your faith. Be sure to know what you love, want and like in life. And, root your life in faith (whatever that may be for you, for me it’s God). Because faith empowers you to live with the assurance of knowing that you are destined for great things, and that those things are always part of a master plan bigger than you.

What’s on your bucket list?
Writing at least 3 books.

I am proud to be Latina because:
I can be caring and casera like my abuelita. Fashionable, smart and beautiful like my mom. And when I want to, I can switch completely into Spanish and throw people off! We are the full package chicas, the deadly combo of brains and looks together.

How do you get your Latin fix?
Playing some old school merengue or vallenato at home…watching Don Francisco with my tios, and making arepas for breakfast.

Spanglish, English, Spanish?

My favorite Latina stereotype is:
That we are the best and most submissive housewives in the world! LOL

Best advice from mami and/or abuelita:
Mami (who is also a former executive and power business woman) told me to be VERY careful not to rise up so quickly like the coconut tree, because then the fall is faster and hurts more. Gotta pace yourself.

Favorite home remedy:
Activated charcoal for ANY stomach issues! Google it, believe me.

Favorite quote:
“I can do all things through God who strengthens me”

[fun]Lili also does media and TV appearances presenting for various channels on events like Miss Dominican Republic US and the Latin GRAMMY Awards, among others.[/fun]
[career]In her former corporate life, she was the youngest female promoted to an executive level at her age then (27)…and Latina too! [/career]

In the ever changing business world that we live in, Hispanics are finally coming to the forefront. It is now more important then ever to recognize those among us who lead by example. Ms. Gil is truly an inspiration to Hispanic women everywhere. It is more important then ever to celebrate the accomplishments of our Hispanic leaders in the world of business. It is by celebrating their accomplishments that we will inspire those around us to strive for success, and not be bound by the norm’s that society has imposed on us.
