City you live in:
Culver City, CA (Los Angeles Adjacent).

Occupation and why?
Feature Film and TV Writer. Why? Why not?

A regular day consists of?
A typical day for me is about six hours of writing, starting around 8am. Sometimes double that amount if I’m on a deadline, and then meetings or pitches in the afternoon.

How do you define success?
Doing what you love to do and doing it as well as you possibly can.

What has been your biggest challenge?
Getting the studios and/or networks to buy or want to develop projects that are Latino-centric or Latino-themed, with Latino leads.

What advice would you give a Latina who wants to follow in your footsteps?
Start writing. Don’t try to get a job as a writer unless you’ve done the work first. Study, take classes, learn the structure as well as the format of a screenplay or teleplay. It is not enough to want to tell your own stories. You must study your craft first.

What’s on your bucket list?
Going go to India, China, and Easter Island, writing a novel,  and eventually teaching at a college level.

I am proud to be Latina because:
Why wouldn’t I be proud to be a Latina? There’s nothing negative about being a Latina.

How do you get your Latin fix?
Food, Spanish-language films, Latin music and traveling.

Spanglish, English, Spanish?
All three!

My favorite Latina stereotype is:
“La India Maria”.

Best advice from mami and/or abuelita:
Never depend on a man for your well-being, financial stability, or happiness.

Favorite home remedy:
Honey mixed with lemon juice for a cold.

Favorite Quote
“It is only with the heart that one can see clearly. What is essential is invisible to the eye.”  –The Little Prince.
