Getting a reservation at a decent restaurant on Valentine’s Day can be an effin’ nightmare. Even if you do manage to get in, it’s crowded and stuffy; hardly the intimate dinner you envisioned. Why not go for a cozy and romantic home-cooked meal? You don’t need to get crazy with some overly-elaborate dish that takes hours to prepare and requires hundreds of dollars worth of ingredients.   • Start by sautéing one julienned green pepper and one julienned onion in a large skillet with butter.
  • Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes, or until soft.
  • Remove the vegetables from the skillet, turn up the heat and add the shrimp.
  • Again, cook for 5 minutes or until thoroughly pink and then pour the peppers and onions back in.
  • Next, add half a bottle of room-temperature beer and continue to cook on high until most of it has evaporated.
