City you live in:
Tampa, FL.

English/Spanish/Spanglish:
All of the above! I was taught to speak Spanish first and learned English during Elementary school. Over the years I’ve lost my Brooklyn/Spanish accent and people can’t believe I speak another language fluently.

Favorite Latin food you can’t live without:
Arroz con habichuelas y bacalaitos. Sooo fattening; but sooo yummy. And it’s about the only hispanic food I can cook without screwing it up! I also love pernil, but only on holidays.

What is your Latina contradiction?
Everyone expects you to know how to dance Salsa when you say you’re Puerto Rican, but I’m trying to learn. :)

When you think of Latin culture, what are the first words you think of?
Passion, family and lots of laughing.

What is your ethnicity? Or where is your family from?
I’m a NY born Puerto Rican. Both of my parents were born in PR.

Latina? American? Both?
Both! I grew up in the Bushwick area of Brooklyn, where it’s very hispanic. I moved when I was 16 to New Jersey in a town that consisted of two hispanic families (you guessed it; we were one of the two!). It was a culture shock for me but I honestly look back and see how the experience made me grow as a person in so many ways.

Favorite Latin artist or music?
I listen to everything but my favorite artists are Marc Anthony, Alex Cuba, Wisin Y Yandel, Omega and l love bachata and dancing it as well.

iPhone or BlackBerry?
Crackberry!

How do you describe your style?
Eclectic. I lean towards a very laid back boho look, but my style is driven by my mood.

What is your favorite Latin restaurant?
A small hole in the wall in Brooklyn called El Cuchifrito; it’s been around since I was a little girl. They cook the best chicken and just thinking about it makes me hungry.

What media in English and/or Spanish do you prefer/consume, as in what magazines, newspapers, TV shows, etc?
I like both. People Español, Latina Magazine are my faves but I’m a reality TV junky! I can’t really get into novelas I tried and so far La Reina de Sur and Mas Sabe El Diablo (thanks to my cousin lol) are the only ones I’ve watched.
