City you live in:
Currently living in Hawthorne, California.

English/Spanish/Spanglish:
With the Anglos I must speak English – I have no choice. Among friends and the few co-workers that do speak Spanish I definitely speak in Spanish, especially during a chisme. With my best friend and family members, a mix of them all! And that’s not all; the different accents emerge as I speak to different friends of different cultures. I can sound like a Cubana-Mexicana-Nicaragüense from somewhere from Perurgentimbia.

Favorite Latin food you can’t live without:
This is an easy one if I don’t think about it too much but in order for it to sound good I must describe it in Spanish, un gallo-pinto (arroz blanco y frijoles rojos cocinados juntos, parecido a moros Cubanos), un bistek encebollado cocinado en su propio juguito, tostones calientitos y muy crujientes y una ensalada de repollo con vinagre, sal, limon, y tomate picado! Okay, I’m hungry now!

What is your Latina contradiction?
I don’t like platano maduro frito which is a staple in Central American food and I don’t like novelas.

When you think of Latin culture, what are the first words you think of?
Words pop in my head in Spanish – ritmo, sabor, passion, curvas, muchas curvas!

What is your ethnicity? Or where is your family from?
Ay! Never a one-word answer because I was born in Costa Rica and brought to the States as a baby, lived here for several years through elementary school. Moved to Nicaragua where I lived my formative years, had my first kiss and graduated from high school. Moved back to the U.S. for college and decided to stay. So I guess I’m a Costameriaguan!

Latina? American? Both?
I’m from Latino America! There is no way I can be one or the other, I’m American because I’m from the American continent! I guess my Latin people from the Islands can be either or.

Favorite Latin artist or music?
Love my Columbian boys Juanes and Carlos Vives, also La Shaki (Shakira), Juan Luis Guerra, Luis Enrique, Marc Anthony! Merenguito all the way!

iPhone or BlackBerry?
Android! iPhone and BBs are so overrated.

How do you describe your style?
Accessories, accessories, accessories! Stylish, girlie with a finesse for frugal savoir-faire!

What is your favorite Latin restaurant?
I can’t believe I’m going to admit this but a FAR FAR FAR from fancy Nicaraguan restaurant called La 27 in Los Angeles, Ca. The place is in a shady area of town, don’t even know what their rating is, always crowded and street vendors always trying to sell you bootlegged DVDs. But Oh Em Gee, they have the best Quesillos ever (a handmade tortilla with a slab of fresh cheese topped with cured onion, chile and vinegar dressing and sour cream)! And you cannot go without having the Carne Asada La 27 plate. Honorable mention goes to Havana Mania in Hawthorne, CA a Cuban restaurant serving the best moros, lechon asado, café con leche and flan.

What media in English and/or Spanish do you prefer/consume, as in what magazines, newspapers, TV shows, etc?
For television I consume English channels such as Bravo especially Flipping Out, who knew! Zoila is Nicaragüense! Also, a show on TruTV, Discovery ID and of course E! But, as for magazines I only read Spanish mags such as Siempre Mujer, Vanidades, Cosmoplitan en Español and Latina Style. I enjoy reading all my bloguera’s posts as well as Huffington Post, CNN, Mashable and AOL Latino. So, to sum-up, TV = English, print media = Spanish, online = both!
