Clean Up Your Sleep
Jan 02, 12
Que sueño! Sleep deprivation is probably at the top of most Americans’ complaint list. With so much going on, most of us don’t catch nearly enough zzz’s. What really sucks, though, is when you finally hit the bed and for whatever reason you just can’t fall asleep; instead, you toss and turn for what seems like hours. What you need is some “Sleep Hygiene”. Don’t worry; it doesn’t involve a trapeador to the face while you sleep. They are tips to help you develop better sleep habits and get more rest:
- Although siestas are something of an institution in our culture, it’s better to avoid them in order to ensure you are tired enough at bedtime.
- If you can’t fall asleep within 20 minutes of going to bed, get up and do something boring until you feel sleepy.
- Develop sleep rituals to signal to your body that it’s time to wind down. Read for 15 minutes, listen to relaxing music or have a cup of caffeine-free tea.
- Try to get up and go to bed at the same time every day to establish a regular rhythm to your sleep cycle.
Sweet dreams, chicas!
