City you live in:
West New York, NJ.

Occupation and why?
have so many….ready? I am a teacher’s assistant at Ethical Community Charter School in Jersey City, a part-time receptionist at The Harborage Nursing Home in North Bergen, the Director of Public Relations for the Salvadorian Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (CAMACOSALH) and I am the publicist for authors/motivational speakers Gerson Martinez and Billy Staples. I’d say teaching is the most fulfilling job I can have. Educating children is a very rewarding career.

A regular day consists of?
My days consist of getting up early to prep my son Jayden, aged 3, for school, working at the charter school, working on marketing materials for Gerson Martinez and Billy Staples, and attending meetings…Oh, and did I mention winding down by spending the afternoons and evenings with my son? And eventually sleeping…

How do you define success?
I define success as achieving every goal that has been set. No matter how impossible the task might seem, I will somehow get it done.

What has been your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge has been climbing my way to a successful career while being a single mother, but every struggle has eventually become a smooth path. I will work as hard as I can to provide the best for my son.

What advice would you give a Latina who wants to follow in your footsteps?

What’s on your bucket list?
My bucket list consists of obtaining a Master’s Degree in Education, starting my own public relations business, and finding happiness and success with everything in my life.

I am proud to be Latina because:
Crecer en dos culturas diferentes (Domincana y Salvadoreña) me ha enseñado a admirar toda las diferentes culturas. Todos hablamos español pero tenemos cosas únicas que nos hace una raza tan bella. Nuestras comidas, costumbres y lenguaje están llenos de colores, vida y pasión.

How do you get your Latin fix?
I get my latin fix by blasting cumbia and bachata in my car, and by singing my favorite rancheras.

Spanglish, English, Spanish?
Hablo los tres, and I can even add some Italian and Russian to the mix.

My favorite Latina stereotype is:
Latina women are to be seen but not heard…but guess what? Everyone can see me and hear me loud and clear!

Best advice from mami and/or abuelita:
No te desesperes. Cógelo suave que todo vendrá a su debido tiempo.

Favorite home remedy:
Ginger tea with lime and honey
