10 Ways To Speed Up Your PC

Sep 16, 10 10 Ways To Speed Up Your PC

How to make your computer run faster Are you about ready to throw your PC out the window?  You click on a program and by the time it’s done loading you’ve already had your morning cafe and arepa. LaCosmo knows that a busy chica like you doesn’t have time to wait around for the holy moment Internet Explorer decides to spring to life. That’s why we’ve gathered ten ways to bring your PC up to speed with your busy life:

  1. Scan for viruses. This one seems like a no-brainer but sometimes we forget we even have the software installed. Run weekly scans to make sure your system is virus free.
  2. Don’t forget to scan for Spyware and Adware too! You can download free software like Spybot and Ad-Aware to clear your computer from these pesky little things.
  3. Uninstall programs you really don’t need. Not your anti-virus. That you really need.  The free music downloader stuffing your PC full of Trojans? Not so much.
  4. Add more memory.  This one is easier said than done. It’s best to talk with your nearest techie for this one.
  5. Invest in an external hard drive. I know you love your Shakira and Paulina Rubio but those music files might be slowing you down. If you save them on an external drive you can free up space in your main hard drive.
  6. Defragment your hard drive. Que que? What this does is simply take small data fragments and combine them together so they are a lot faster to read.  You should do this every now and then to optimize your hard drive’s speed.
  7. Reinstall programs that may be running slow. They may be corrupted. As in ‘unusable’. Not as in the girls from Sin Senos No Hay Paraiso.
  8. Clear your cookies every now and then.
  9. Use the recovery CD that came with your computer.  It usually fixes everything.
  10. Nothing works? Desperate? It’s time to delete everything on your drive and start all over again. The final step is reformatting the hard disk. Formatting a drive erases everything on it, so make sure to backup all your important data. You can reformat and reinstall Windows from a CD, but only if you have the full version.
